Domestic Violence Awareness Month
1. Survivor Advocacy Board Listening Session (10/15): As part of the launch of The Safe Sisters Circle’s Survivor Advocacy Board, we will host an intimate listening session centering Black women survivors of gender-based violence in Washington, D.C. This session will provide a dedicated space for survivors to voice their lived experiences, name the systemic gaps and barriers they’ve encountered, and shape the priorities of the Advocacy Board. Insights from this session will inform the Board’s focus areas for its first cohort. We will also be sharing more information on the Survivor Advocacy Board for those interested in joining!

2. Community Walk In Legal Clinic (10/24): TSSC will be hosting our walk in legal clinic at DC SAFE where we will provide Black survivors of DV and SA brief advice and assistance with case filings for DC civil protection orders/antistalking orders; family law cases (custody, divorce, and/or paternity); and navigating the criminal justice system as the victim. Email us at legalservices@safesisterscircle.org for more info.
3. Nature Walk (10/30): Using the Anacostia River as our back drop, we will lean into nature for healing and wellness as we close out DVAM. Join TSSC for a Nature Walk to end Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Hosted by our Mental Health Justice Clinic, this is an opportunity for survivors and supporters to find healing in nature, learn grounding exercises, and find community. The walk will follow the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail. This event is open to survivors and their village/circle.
